The Cádiz Book Fair, running until July 5th at the Baluarte de la Candelaria, marks its first full weekend day with an extensive program. The event includes participation from renowned authors such as Mathías Enard, Rafael Cobos, Amparo Llanos, Javier Salvago, and Zatu Rey, alongside offerings for children.
Activities commence at 11:30 AM in the Espacio Pilar Paz Pasamar with the presentation of the Revista Orfeo and a recital by young writers from the University of Cádiz. Concurrently, in the Sala Josela Maturana, the novel Tierra fría by Paco Torrejón will be presented, accompanied by María Jesús Ruiz.
From 12:00 PM, children's programming takes center stage with Cuentos animalados, led by José Carlos Román in the Sala José Luis Cano. Illustrator Rafael Jiménez will be signing copies of his comic works at the Espacio Eduardo Cruz Acillona, with a repeat session in the afternoon.
Mid-morning will feature several simultaneous presentations. At 12:30 PM, Amparo Llanos will present Afectuosamente tuya, Jane Austen with Gudrun Palomino at the Espacio Pilar Paz Pasamar. In parallel, the Sala Josela Maturana will host a discussion on Rafael Cobos: writing and screen, where the screenwriter will converse with Pablo García Casado and Juan María Rodríguez about cinema and literature.
Also at 12:30 PM, poet Javier Salvago will present his works La vejez del poeta and Todos los males juntos in the Sala José Luis Cano, focusing on poetry and narrative.
The afternoon schedule begins at 7:30 PM. In the Sala José Luis Cano, the novel Morgana by Nerea Riesco will be presented with Pilar Vera. Simultaneously, Zatu Rey, a member of Sfdk, will present his novel Mobiliario de azotea at the Espacio Pilar Paz Pasamar.
Children's programming will again have a prominent slot at 7:30 PM in the Sala José Manuel Caballero Bonald, with presentations of La buscadora de erizos by Esperanza Martínez and ¡Oh, Gaviota! by Begoña Juliá Olaeta.
Historical fiction arrives at 8:00 PM in the Sala Josela Maturana with Teresa Terry, la negra de El Puerto de Santa María, by Jesús Cosano. At 8:30 PM, the Espacio Pilar Paz Pasamar will host the presentation of the children's book Julia y los Mortimort by Raquel Díaz Reguera.
At 8:30 PM, in the Sala José Luis Cano, El árbol de los duraznos blancos. Manuel de Falla y Ernesto “Che” Guevara: una amistad inesperada by Lucio Martínez de Salazar Sepúlveda will be presented, with Eduardo Albadalejo.
The final literary events of the day begin at 9:00 PM in the Sala Josela Maturana with the presentation of Vivir sin miedo by Jesús Terres, accompanied by Miriam Carrión Roncero. At 9:30 PM, the Espacio Pilar Paz Pasamar will host a highlight event with the presentation of Melancolía de los confines: norte by French writer Mathías Enard.
The day concludes at 10:30 PM on the Escenario Salvador Catalán with a jazz concert by Carlos Cortés Trío. The venue will remain open until 1:00 AM after the concerts.
The 41st Cádiz Book Fair is taking place at the Baluarte de la Candelaria from June 26th to July 5th. Operating hours are Monday to Sunday from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM, except for Sunday, July 5th, when it will only be open in the morning.
