Following Carnival and Holy Week, which traditionally dominate Cádiz's cultural agenda during the early months of the year, the city is now embracing an intense exhibition season. Various public and private institutions and galleries have waited for spring to inaugurate their artistic proposals.
Emblematic venues such as the Castillo de Santa Catalina, ECCO, Casa de Iberoamérica, the cloister of the Provincial Council, Sala Rivadavia, Casa Pinillos, the Provincial Museum, Fundación Cajasol, and the Benot gallery, among other city spaces, are presenting a diverse offering designed to attract a wide audience interested in art.
Among the featured exhibitions is ‘Océano’ by Candi Garbarino at the Castillo de Santa Catalina, exploring universal themes inspired by archaeology and the sea until June 21. Meanwhile, ECCO hosts ‘Huellas’ by Rafael Canogar, a significant exhibition organized by the Municipal Culture Foundation and sponsored by Fundación Unicaja, open until June 28.
The Casa de Iberoamérica presents ‘Andaluz.es’, a collective show featuring works by 29 artists connected to Andalucía, available for viewing until May 21. The painter from Cádiz, Antonio Álvarez del Pino, stars in ‘Et in Arcadia ego’, an exhibition spread between the Central Market and the Ancha 16 Cultural Space, reflecting on the transience of life.
The Museo de Cádiz showcases ‘Reflejos. Picasso x Barceló. El diálogo cerámico de dos genios’ until June 28, bringing together over 80 ceramic pieces by Pablo Picasso and Miquel Barceló. The cloisters of the Provincial Council Palace offer ‘Cádiz en papel. Carteles que hablan’, a journey through 19th and 20th-century advertising until May 8. Sala Rivadavia hosts ‘Las últimas luces’ by J. M. Medina until May 16, while Fundación Cajasol presents ‘Olvera, diez años de inspiración’ by Wolfgang Berus until May 2. Finally, the Benot gallery displays the work of María Teresa Martín-Vivaldi until May 30, and the College of Architects features a retrospective of its Sánchez Esteve and Torres Clavé awards.
