This announcement was made during the tribute to the Honorary Members of the Cadiz Nursing College, held at the Museos de la Atalaya in Jerez de la Frontera. The initiative seeks to recognize a field of practice with high care complexity, contributing to the improvement of quality and safety in healthcare.
“"Two days ago, I signed the endorsement for the creation of the Critical, Emergency, and Urgency Nursing Specialty, which we have requested from the Ministry of Health."
Nursing, considered a key piece in the care process, has seen various specialties recognized in Andalusia that have been incorporated into the Andalusian Health Service (SAS). Currently, 2,121 specialist nurses work in the Andalusian public system, including clinical research nurses and clinical research specialist nurses.
In the province of Cadiz, nearly 5,000 nurses and physiotherapists work in both Primary Care and Hospital Care. These professionals are joined by 97 specialist nurses and 33 physiotherapists planned in the structural staff expansion of the SAS in the province. At the regional level, 1,076 nursing positions have been added, including specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mental Health, and Family and Community.
During the event, the work of five honorary members, 80 retired nurses from the province of Cadiz, and the most outstanding students from the four university centers in the province were recognized. Individuals and entities that have collaborated with the Cadiz Nursing College and the members of the Deontological Committee were also honored.
