The Provincial Court of Seville will soon try Noé C.T. for the death of his wife, Erica Vanessa Reyes, which occurred in Utrera in the summer of 2023. The victim, 21 years younger than the accused, had started a new romantic relationship, a fact that, according to the prosecution, the defendant could not accept.
Seville's Prosecutor's Office is requesting 25 years in prison for the accused, classifying the events as murder with treachery and cruelty. The Public Prosecutor maintains that the attack occurred from behind and that multiple blows were inflicted, detailing up to seventeen wounds to the head or nearby areas before the fatal outcome.
According to the prosecution's account, the couple married in 2019. The victim moved to Utrera in September 2021 and shortly after began a relationship with a neighbor. The accused, who visited his wife periodically, moved more continuously to the town, where, according to the prosecution, he began to exert control over her, with the victim even threatening to report him if the situation persisted.
On July 30, 2023, after discovering his wife's new relationship, the accused allegedly attacked her with a bladed weapon. The victim attempted to defend herself, suffering wounds consistent with human bites on her left forearm and hand. Subsequently, the accused positioned himself behind her, eliminating any possibility of escape or defense, and repeatedly struck her on the head with a blunt object, causing extremely severe cranial fractures and severe traumatic brain injury.
The Prosecutor's Office details that the victim had seventeen wounds on her skull, face, chest, and cervical region, in addition to other contusions. It considers that the accused caused "prolonged and unnecessary suffering," which supports the charge of cruelty.
