In Algodonales, agents from the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) intercepted two individuals carrying 24 live, unringed goldfinches in cages. These individuals were also using two Japanese nets, considered prohibited devices, and their mobile phones as decoys to attract other birds. The confiscated birds were released back into their natural habitat.
The operation in Algodonales took place last Wednesday, when a SEPRONA patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle near Arroyo Bermejo. After establishing surveillance, the Civil Guards detected the two suspects transporting the cages with the birds. They are charged with an alleged offense of illegal hunting using prohibited methods.
The confiscated birds were released back into their natural habitat.
The second operation was carried out on a private hunting estate in Puerto Real. There, one person was caught engaging in hunting activity using two ferrets without the necessary authorization. The estate's gamekeeper and Private Security personnel alerted SEPRONA agents, who proceeded to the farm.
During this intervention, agents seized ten nets and handed over the two ferrets, along with the rest of the confiscated equipment, to the competent authority. The individual involved has been investigated for an alleged offense against flora and fauna.
Both operations are part of the Civil Guard's preventive services to combat poaching, the use of prohibited methods, and to protect wildlife species in the region.
