The Puerto Real City Council has given the green light in an extraordinary plenary session to the distinctions to be awarded on Villa Day 2026, a date commemorating the town's foundation. The Municipal Corporation has decided to honor outstanding careers for their social commitment, equality, and citizen well-being.

The Asprodeme Association will receive the Medal of the Villa. This entity, one of the most representative and beloved in the town's recent history, celebrates its fiftieth anniversary in 2026. Over these five decades, Asprodeme has been a benchmark in support, accompaniment, and defense of the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and their families, promoting their integration and offering support to numerous families in the municipality.

María Sierra Martínez, born in 1921 and currently the oldest woman in the municipality, has been distinguished as a Favorite Daughter of Puerto Real. Her life's journey, marked by commitment, dignity, and democratic memory, as well as her pioneering role in defending women's rights and her lifelong social and democratic commitment to the town, have led to this recognition.

The title of Adopted Daughter is awarded to Rosa Girón Zambonino, known as ‘Rosa the midwife’, for her outstanding professional and human career spanning four decades in Puerto Real since her arrival in 1986. Her healthcare work has accompanied generations of families, making her a familiar figure for the citizens and demonstrating continuous dedication to the well-being of the town's residents.

The award ceremony for these distinctions will take place during the institutional events for Villa Day on June 20.
