This project, named ‘LPR1 Citizen Photovoltaic Initiative’, will be located on the roof of the Autismo Cádiz center in Puerto Real. It will feature a power output of 34.1 kWp and a 15 kWh battery storage system, designed to maximize energy utilization. This marks the first installation of its kind launched by a local, self-managed citizen energy community in the Bay of Cádiz.
The initiative was made possible by a grant from the Implementa program of the Ministry for Ecological Transition, secured with the endorsement of the Andalusian Energy Agency. The cooperative highlighted the involvement of the Andalusian School of Social Economy and the Community Transformation Office of the Cádiz Provincial Council as crucial to its success.
This commitment is exciting and reinforces our goal of democratizing access to energy, treating it as a right and not a luxury.
The impact of this installation extends beyond energy, possessing a strong social dimension. It will enable self-consumption for at least 25 families and small entities in Puerto Real. Furthermore, 10% of the total production will be provided almost free of charge to five local households facing energy vulnerability. The Autismo Cádiz headquarters will also directly benefit, receiving another 10% of the generated energy to reduce its operational costs.
Luce Puerto Real, established as a non-profit consumer cooperative, aims to promote a sustainable and fair energy model. This agreement with Autismo Cádiz underscores both entities' commitment to the common good and the energy transition in the Bay of Cádiz.
