The European Centre for Business and Innovation (CEEI) Bahía de Cádiz, in collaboration with CTAQUA and the Sanlúcar City Council, organized the 'Mar Circular' educational event at the Fishing Port of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The initiative, part of the AQUAFISH 0.0 Project, brought together over 70 children to promote the protection of the sea's future.
During the event, participants received training on the origin of marine food, sustainable fishing and aquaculture, circular economy, and responsible consumption. Interactive workshops were held focusing on the fish market, marine turtles, nets, the valorization of fishing and aquaculture by-products, and the reduction of food waste.
A highlight was the educational 'showcooking', where participants learned about healthy and sustainable ways to prepare and consume seasonal seafood, emphasizing its role in a circular economy. The event concluded with awareness messages and a group photograph.
The AQUAFISH 0.0 project, co-financed by FEDER through the Interreg Atlantic Area program, involves partners from Spain, Portugal, Ireland, and France. Its goal is to foster innovation and sustainability in fisheries and aquaculture within the Atlantic Area.
CEEI Bahía de Cádiz plays a crucial role in social awareness, particularly through activities aimed at younger generations to promote the 'blue economy', encourage sustainable consumption habits, and reinforce knowledge about the value of marine resources.
