The Catalan club announced Monchi's signing this Monday, highlighting his career as one of Europe's most prestigious football executives. In his new role, he will report directly to Espanyol's CEO, Mao Ye, and president, Alan Pace.
Following the official announcement of his appointment, the president of CD San Fernando issued a statement to the 'azulino' fans, reiterating his unwavering commitment to the island club's project. In the text, Monchi assures that his decision was "very carefully considered" and will be "beneficial for all parties."
“"I am going to a place where they have shown me their affection from minute one, where they have valued my work philosophy and, above all, where they have respected my position as president of CDSF 1940."
The director emphasized that his new responsibility in professional football will demand greater effort, but he embraces the challenge with "all possible enthusiasm." He sought to dispel any doubts about his connection to CDSF, expressing full confidence in the work team, employees, and supporters.
Monchi stated that he will continue to contribute as much as possible, both from San Fernando and Barcelona, and will keep "boasting" about his club. CD San Fernando will compete next season in Segunda Andaluza, a division they were promoted to a few weeks ago.
