This initiative is part of the commemorative events for the 150th anniversary of Chiclana's designation as a City, granted in 1876 by King Alfonso XII. The initial tasting, planned for this week, significantly exceeded its capacity, prompting the decision to add a new date.
Each tasting session has a maximum capacity of just over 70 places, allocated through a draw among registered participants. Given the high level of interest, the Council has decided to repeat the activity with the same characteristics, allocating places for this second session to those not selected in the first draw.
The event will take place at the Wine and Salt Interpretation Center, a municipal space dedicated to promoting the local winemaking and salt-producing heritage. Attendees will be able to sample a selection of wines from three representative wineries of the municipality: Bodegas Primitivo Collantes, Unión de Viticultores Chiclaneros, and Bodega Manuel Aragón.
The tasting will focus on selected 'sacas de botas', a method that allows for the extraction of wines with distinct profiles. The organization of this activity highlights the historical importance of the wine sector in Chiclana's economic development, which in 1876 boasted 1,015 hectares of vineyards, a figure that rose to 3,410 hectares by 1883.
This proposal is part of a broader program of cultural and informative events that will run throughout 2026, aiming to commemorate the 150 years since Chiclana was granted its City title and to showcase the history, heritage, and productive sectors that drove its growth in the 19th century.
