The Councillor for Festivals, Ana M. Expósito, along with Sacri Marco, president of the Monte Lope Álvarez Neighbors Association, and Pilar Cobo, have presented the program. They have invited residents and visitors to enjoy the local gastronomy and culture.
Approximately 1,000 'hoyos' will be distributed among attendees, thanks to the collaboration of olive oil cooperatives and companies. The festival reaffirms the quality of extra virgin olive oil and its prominence in traditional cuisine.
The festivities will commence on Friday, November 6th, with a breakfast dedicated to the elderly residents of the district, as a gesture of recognition and homage.
The main events will take place on Saturday, November 7th. Starting at 1:30 PM, the traditional 'hoyo' will be served along with a tasting of the popular 'migas'. The day will continue with a dance performance by Irene García's dance school.
Following this, diplomas will be awarded to the children from Fernando IV school for their participation in a drawing exhibition focused on olive oil culture. In the afternoon, there will be an exhibition and tasting of traditional desserts prepared by local families, and the celebration will conclude with a performance by the musical group La Quinta Marcha.
The Councillor for Festivals emphasized the importance of maintaining this festival as part of the locality's cultural and gastronomic heritage, stating that “the tasting of a humble 'hoyo' of bread with olives and cod embodies tradition and culture, and it is important that these types of festivals are not lost”.
