The Councillor for Health, Gema Lara, along with members of APAEM (Provincial Association of Relatives and People with Mental Illness) and users of the Occupational Center, urged for strengthened support services and training for professionals working with youth. The initiative calls for the implementation of an emotional education subject and enhanced measures for mental health problem detection.
Lara emphasized that the mental health of children, adolescents, and young people is a societal responsibility requiring community commitment. Statistics show that 75% of mental health problems begin before the age of 18, with an "alarming increase" observed in anxiety disorders, depression, self-harm, and suicide among adolescents and young adults.
In response to this situation, the manifesto advocates for promoting youth participation in social transformation. APAEM social worker, Rosa Cortecero, invited citizens to visit the association's headquarters, located in the nursery building next to Uned and the adult school.
