Reconstruction work has started on the bridge located on the rural road connecting Venta de Pantalones with Las Casillas, in Martos. This infrastructure was rendered unusable following the heavy rains at the beginning of the year.
The intervention addresses the request from local residents, who expressed concern over access difficulties to their agricultural properties ahead of the olive harvest season.
The Councilor for Urban Planning, Juan C. Canalejo, explained that the municipal project aims not only to rebuild the bridge but also to improve water channeling and repair the affected road section.
“"We are responding to a request from residents who have their agricultural properties in this area and were very concerned because the road had become unusable in this section."
The councilor emphasized the importance of restoring communication on this rural road, which connects the Venta Pantalones and Las Casillas areas, calling its operational status an "absolute priority".
Canalejo added that the bridge was in "very dangerous conditions" and that the current intervention will ensure safety and circulation at the site.
He recalled that the maintenance of municipal rural roads falls under the council's responsibilities, although this particular intervention will be "of greater magnitude" due to the extent of the damage.
The councilor also highlighted the open communication with residents and the coordination to address this need, which is vital for the local agricultural activity.
“"We thank the City Council for addressing the request and value the intervention being carried out to restore passage on this road."
It is expected that, if work progresses as planned, the road could be operational in just over a week, once again facilitating access to agricultural holdings and the connection between the two localities.
