The works focus on the integral renovation of the sanitation and rainwater network, as well as the beautification of the avenue. This second section covers from Virgen de la Cabeza street to Baeza street in the upward direction. The total investment for this project is 2.8 million euros.
During the execution of these works, traffic in this section will be limited to one upward lane and two downward lanes. Virgen de la Capilla street and Baeza street will remain open to traffic. Aqualia will reinforce the work with two teams to speed up the tasks.
The intervention aims to solve the constant breakdowns and leaks suffered by residents due to the obsolete state of the network, almost a century old. The tasks will include the demolition of sidewalks, the removal and replacement of urban furniture, the installation of a new corrugated PVC pipe, the renovation of drains, and the planting of new trees.
Subsequently, a section between Baeza street and Santo Reino street will be enabled. In this phase, one of the three downward lanes will become upward, while the other two will maintain the downward direction.
The first section of Madrid Avenue, between Ruíz Jiménez Avenue and El Corte Inglés, is in its final phase, with the laying of paving and the planting of new trees, and is expected to be opened in the coming days.
Residents and shopkeepers have updated information through a QR code included in over 10,000 leaflets distributed in the area. The complete work, covering more than two kilometers of route, includes the renovation of 57 siphonic drains and 45 connections, as well as the expansion and renovation of sidewalks, the planting of new trees in empty tree pits, and the installation of new urban furniture such as lighting poles, bollards, benches, and bins.
