The Provincial Council of Jaén has celebrated the success of the 17th edition of the ‘Jaén, inland paradise’ Popular Race Grand Prix, which has achieved record participation figures. Across the 19 races that make up the provincial calendar, a total of 7,910 participations were registered, an increase of 300 compared to the previous year.
The third vice-president and deputy of Culture and Sports, África Colomo, has expressed her satisfaction with the results of a circuit that has become consolidated and enjoys the support of athletes, turning into one of the most successful programs organized by the Council.
In addition to the total number of participations, which averaged 416 runners per event, there has also been an increase in individual athletes, reaching 4,382 who have competed in at least one race. The number of competing entities and clubs has risen to 77. Runners came from 64 municipalities, indicating significant growth.
A total of 266 athletes have completed the circuit, having participated in a minimum of nine races. The XXVIII San Bartolomé de Martos Popular Race, held on August 8th, marked the end of this edition, which began in March in Mancha Real. Other host locations included Torres, Arjona, Andújar, Beas de Segura, Vilches, Torredelcampo, Ibros, Jabalquinto, Jódar, Baeza, Mengíbar, Marmolejo, Alcalá la Real, Huelma, Santiago de Calatrava, Villargordo, and Bedmar.
In the senior category, the winners were Andrés Estepa (Unicaja Athletics Club) and Eva María León (Trotasierra Club). As an additional prize, the top finishers in each category will gain participation in the 103 Jean Bouin 2026 in Barcelona, with expenses covered, and in the 2027 San Antón Night International Urban Race.
