The city of Martos is preparing to host the 21st edition of the independent music festival Vértigo Estival on July 24th and 25th, as part of the 'Jaén en Julio' cultural promotion.

The festival, one of five included in the ‘Jaén en Julio’ promotional campaign driven by the Provincial Council of Jaén, is characterized by its "closeness" and uniqueness. The Deputy of Promotion and Tourism, Francisco Javier Lozano, along with the mayor of Martos, Emilio Torres, and the festival director, José Molina, presented the event, highlighting the collaboration between municipalities and the effort to offer an attractive musical lineup during the summer.
Deputy Lozano emphasized the affection and dedication of the organization, including the City Council and the volunteer collective, to ensure the festival's success. He highlighted the use of the municipal swimming pool as an ideal space for coexistence and enjoyment, especially during the summer, calling it "the best festival to discover independent music up close" and "a breath of fresh air" in the summer programming.
Emphasis was placed on the attention to detail, the absence of long queues, and personalized service, allowing attendees to enjoy the best bands in an atmosphere conducive to sharing with family and friends. Lozano stated that the public investment by the Provincial Council of Jaén is justified by the quality of the lineup and its ability to attract thousands of visitors, expecting to exceed 75,000 this year, and by its impact on the hospitality and accommodation sectors, thus preserving the province's dynamism.
For his part, Mayor Emilio Torres underscored the commitment to diversifying Martos's cultural offerings and thanked the Provincial Council for its support. He highlighted the festival's family-friendly essence and its setting, mentioning the Bellavista swimming pool as the main venue, with some acoustic performances scheduled in the gardens of the House of Culture. He also pointed out the opportunity to discover emerging artists with future potential.
The festival director, José Molina, contrasted the festival's focus on quality and attendee experience against purely numerical metrics. He expressed pride in the 21 years of history, having overcome challenging times and consolidated Martos's swimming pool as an ideal location for a distinctive festival.
This year's lineup includes bands such as Biznaga, Parque Sur, LisaSinson, and Las Petunias, alongside the American artist Stringfellow, a prominent figure in 'power pop'. Emerging bands will also perform, including the Jaén-based group Aldeaquemada, as well as several DJs. Saturday mornings will feature acoustic concerts in the gardens of the House of Culture with Javier Arnal & Vera and Carlota Flanêur. As a new addition, a gastronomic-musical experience curated by chef Marcos Reguera and an EVOO tasting will take place.
