The woman, who was five months pregnant when she was traveling on the Iryo train bound for Madrid, experienced this significant event amidst her recovery. The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) has confirmed the baby's excellent health.
This development occurs as the investigation into the accident's causes continues. The Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of Córdoba has submitted a detailed report on the incident to the Investigating Court number 2 of Montoro. The document, dated March 27, points to a rail fracture at kilometer point 318+681 on track 1, in the Madrid direction, on the Madrid-Seville high-speed line, as the possible origin of the derailment.
The report highlights that in May of the previous year, renovations were carried out on several track devices at the Adamuz Banalization Post, including semi-escape 645, very close to the fracture site. The investigation focuses on determining whether the quality of materials and the execution of these works could have contributed to the accident, which tragically resulted in 46 fatalities and numerous injuries after the collision between the Iryo train and an Alvia train traveling in the opposite direction.
“"The fact of delegating to successive subcontractors means that ultimately, non-specialized railway personnel carry out the work."
Furthermore, it has been revealed that the SAM (Maintenance Support System) registered a voltage drop consistent with a rail fracture almost 22 hours before the accident, without generating an automatic alarm. The head of Hitachi Rail GTS Spain SAU, the signaling system provider, indicated that the reliability of rail fracture detection on that specific line was very low due to its electrical configuration.
The investigation also examines the ultrasonic inspection of welds carried out on June 4, 2025, by the company Redalsa, which declared all welds, including the one at the fracture point, as "suitable." However, Redalsa could not provide the raw digital data from that inspection, claiming that Adif's regulations do not require full recording, only of defects. Inconsistencies have also been detected in the documentation of aluminothermic welds, with doubts about the validity of signatures and version control, as alerted by the Railway Accident Investigation Commission (CIAF) to the Civil Guard.
