The Virgen de las Nieves Festival in Sierra Nevada, organized by the Monachil City Council, will take place from July 31st to August 5th, 2026, with a varied program of activities.

The festivities will begin on Friday, July 31st, with a night of music featuring performances by the rock group EL SÓTANO DEL DOCTOR, the cover band LA GUARIDA, and DJ MOLMARX at the Municipal Tent in Plaza Pradollano.
On Saturday, August 1st, the day will start at 2:00 PM with the arrival of horse riders and the distribution of assorted tapas at the Municipal Tent. In the afternoon, the group CON DOS CAJONES will liven up the atmosphere, followed by ribbon races on horseback and award ceremonies. The night will feature the festival's opening speech by Ana Alonso, a local resident and Olympic champion, at the Mirador de Plaza Pradollano. Later, MARCOS CHICO and the group ‘LA GUARDIA’ will perform, with DJ FRAN HIGUERO closing the night.
On Sunday, August 2nd, the I Sierra Nevada Hiking Encounter will take place, starting from the Tourist Office. In the morning, there will be workshops and inflatable castles for children, as well as a foam party at the Mirador de Plaza Pradollano. The midday will be enlivened by CARIBE SHOW, and a chicken in sauce tasting will be offered. In the evening, the film El Refugio will be screened.
On Tuesday, August 4th, the procession of the Virgin will depart from the Monachil Local Police station, accompanied by ecclesiastical and municipal authorities, and the Cájar-Monachil Music Band. After the exposition of the Lady in Plaza Pradollano, there will be a concert by the band, and the night will continue with MCGREGOR.
On Wednesday, August 5th, the Romería Blanca (White Pilgrimage) will be celebrated, including the distribution of mountain tea, the call of pilgrims, and the official departure. A snack will be offered in Borreguiles, and Holy Mass will be celebrated at dawn in Los Tajos de la Virgen.
Finally, on Saturday, August 8th, the III Chess Open “Pradollano - Monachil” will be held.
The Municipal Corporation has thanked the collaboration of the Local Police, Civil Protection, City Council staff, residents, ecclesiastical entities, and the Festival Commission for making the celebration possible.
