The Council recommends users exercise extreme caution and leave the area due to the imminent risk of a rapid rise in water levels. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) maintains active warnings in the province of Granada, with probabilities ranging from 40% to 70%.
In the region of Alpujarra, as well as in Nevada, storms are expected accompanied by strong gusts of wind and large hail. These weather phenomena are similar to those that occurred in August 2024, when a timely warning allowed bathers to be evacuated before a buildup of stones and branches caused the river to overflow.
Aemet advises staying informed about weather updates, especially during the validity period of the warnings. In Guadix and Baza, the warning is orange for rain, with accumulated precipitation potentially reaching 30 mm per hour, in addition to wind and hail.
In the Genil Basin, the warning is yellow for precipitation, wind, and hail, and the alert for high temperatures remains, with maximums predicted at 39ºC, possibly reaching 40ºC locally. Administrations emphasize caution regarding potential river overflows or falling trees.
