The Alpujarra region of Granada will be the setting this Sunday for the penultimate event of the Diputación de Granada's Fondo Circuit, the ‘Jamón de Trevélez’ race. Approximately 500 athletes are expected to participate, combining regular circuit runners and local athletes, despite the anticipated high temperatures.
This event, now in its sixth edition, is a highlight on the calendar for runners across the province. The 10-kilometer course will wind through the streets of the municipality, considered the highest in the province. Plaza Francisco Abellán will serve as the central point, hosting both the start and finish lines.
The categories include junior, promise, senior, and veteran. Those interested can register up to half an hour before the race begins. There is an option to purchase a solidarity bib for 10 euros, benefiting the Spanish Association Against Cancer. Participants using this bib will not be eligible for prizes or trophies and will not have a timing chip, but will receive other offered services.
Additionally, a 'zero bib' will be available for those who wish to contribute financially to the association without actively participating in the race. All athletes who complete the course will receive a runner's bag upon finishing.
The final event of the circuit before the summer recess will take place next Sunday, June 28th, in Dílar, with the XXXVII ‘Río Dilar’ Fondo Race, also covering 10 kilometers.
