The project to enhance access to the Alpujarra is progressing with the construction of a significant infrastructure: a viaduct designed to cross a valley near Lanjarón. This intervention aims to optimize the connection between the region and Granada.
This initiative, promoted by the Junta de Andalucía, involves a total investment exceeding 19 million euros. Its goal is to replace the current route, known for its numerous curves, with a wider, more direct, and safer road, benefiting the approximately 4,000 vehicles that use it.
The Minister of Public Works, Rocío Díaz, highlighted that this intervention addresses a long-standing demand from the area and described it as a "strategic" infrastructure for the economic and social development of the Alpujarra. Díaz shared a video on her social media showcasing the bridge construction progress.
The works are divided into two sections. The first, between the Tablate bridge and the Aguas de Lanjarón bottling plant, has recently resumed after overcoming technical challenges related to the area's complex terrain. The second section extends to the municipality of Lanjarón.
