Officers of the Civil Guard have successfully apprehended a 24-year-old male in the town of Órgiva, located in the Alpujarra Granadina. He is accused of four counts of aggravated robbery and one count of identity usurpation, all committed in hospitality establishments within the municipality.
The criminal incidents occurred between early November 2025 and February 2026. The alleged perpetrator consistently used the same method of operation and attire, which proved crucial for his subsequent identification by investigators.
The modus operandi involved breaking a window pane with a large stone to gain entry into the premises. In cases where bars were present, he used a hydraulic jack to force them open before breaking the glass. Once inside, he would steal the cash register and containers with cash, such as tip jars, then exit through the same entry point.
The investigation, led by the Investigation Area of the Órgiva Civil Guard Company, included analyzing security camera footage and taking statements from potential witnesses. The consistency in the suspect's clothing, physical build, behavior, and method of operation allowed officers to focus their investigation on a single individual.
The main challenge for the officers was locating the individual, as he had no known address and attempted to evade police action by hiding in vegetated areas, where he slept in a sleeping bag. In one of these locations, officers found various items from one of the robberies, which strengthened their suspicions.
A decisive breakthrough in the investigation occurred on April 9, when medical services reported a person who had sought medical assistance at a local residence and had provided two different identities. The inquiries made to clarify this fact confirmed that it was the individual sought by the officers. Finally, the man was arrested and brought before judicial authorities.
