With only four matchdays remaining in the 2025-2026 season of the Segunda División, promotion to the top tier of Spanish football offers a substantial financial reward. For the Almería club, this goal signifies a historic change and an entry into the "Olympus of national football," with millions of euros at stake for both the entity and its players.
The promotion bonus agreed upon by the captains of the Almería team amounts to four million euros, to be distributed among the squad. This means each footballer would receive over 100,000 euros, a considerable incentive to successfully conclude a season that spans 42 matchdays, plus the promotion Play Off phase.
“"This season's promotion bonus at Almería is around four million euros to be distributed among the footballers, meaning each would receive just over 100,000 euros, a good sum for achieving the objective."
The agreement for this bonus was negotiated by the captains of the Almería team weeks after the locker room leaders were officially announced. The most senior players in the squad, along with other selected individuals, were responsible for agreeing on this incentive, a common practice among teams aspiring to promotion to Primera División.
In previous seasons, other clubs also offered substantial bonuses for promotion. For instance, Elche allocated three million euros, while Oviedo and Levante offered 4.5 million euros to achieve the same objective.
