The province of Almería has seen a surge in the most serious crimes over the past year, 2025, with approximately 90 legal proceedings opened in its judicial bodies. This figure represents an increase of nearly 27 percent compared to the 71 proceedings recorded in 2024, according to the Report from the Prosecutor's Office of Andalusia, Ceuta, and Melilla.
This increase in Almería doubles the regional average, which stood at 15 percent. At the Andalusian level, 658 proceedings were opened in 2025, 86 more than the previous year, with Almería, Cádiz, Jaén, and Málaga being the provinces with the highest increase in these crimes.
The statistical Report from the Prosecutor's Office of Andalusia, Ceuta, and Melilla for 2025 also recorded similar procedural activity to the previous year, with 340,701 cases initiated in preliminary proceedings, a slight increase of 0.06%.
Despite the high litigation in Andalusia, the Chief Prosecutor, Ana Tárrago Ruiz, highlighted the importance of the Penal Mediation Service launched by the Regional Government, which has doubled agreements in conflicts and is expected to expedite judicial responses, allowing resources to focus on more complex cases.
