A Balearia ferry docked at the Port of Almería experienced a fire on the afternoon of Monday, April 6, generating a significant column of black smoke visible from much of the Almería capital.

The event occurred shortly before 5:00 PM, when spotlights located on the exterior of the vessel caught fire. The crew's swift action managed to extinguish the flames before the arrival of the Almería Fire Department.
