Since its launch in early February, the electric bicycle system, managed by Bolt and Hoppy, has been widely accepted by the citizens of Almería. The Councilor for Active City and Sports, Antonio Casimiro, highlighted in a plenary session that each vehicle has completed an average of more than three trips per day.
“"More than 18,000 trips made, with more than three trips per vehicle, and by a volume of different customers exceeding 8,200 people."
This remarkable performance has allowed for over 100,000 kilometers to be covered, resulting in a saving of more than 15 tons of CO2, according to municipal estimates. Casimiro emphasizes that these figures demonstrate a growing adoption of cycling as a regular means of transport among Almerians.
Despite incidents such as vandalism and initial thefts, the service has been very well received. The fleet, consisting of 300 electric bicycles, offers a maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour and features pedal assistance, facilitating its use in the city's steeper areas. Users have access to nearly 400 parking points distributed throughout the city to pick up and drop off vehicles.
