With the arrival of good weather and the approach of summer, many travelers seek charming spots to unwind. In this context, Almería offers a variety of locations that combine history, nature, and authenticity, making them attractive options for a getaway.
A recent report from the vacation rental search engine Holidu analyzed the monthly search volume for Spanish towns with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. Although Almerian municipalities do not lead the national ranking, several of them show significant interest, consolidating them as potential destinations for the May 1st Holiday.
Tabernas tops the list of small towns in Almería with the highest number of searches on the platform. This municipality is known for its unique desert, the famous Mini Hollywood, and its castle. In second place is Vélez Blanco, a popular destination among Almerians themselves, located in the Sierra María-Los Vélez Natural Park, which attracts visitors with its gastronomy, mountain sports, and pleasant night temperatures in summer.
Rounding out the top spots, Sorbas takes third place, notable for its mining tradition and impressive gypsum caves. Further south, in the lower Alpujarra region, Laujar and Padules are in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Other municipalities such as Enix, Terque, Fondón, and Serón also appear in the Holidu study, confirming the appeal of the province's small towns for rural tourism and relaxing getaways.
