The 4th Almerian Gastronomy Encounter commenced this Friday in Plaza de las Velas, transforming the space into a meeting point for food lovers. The event, running for eight days until August 29th, promises to delight visitors and locals with a varied offering including daily showcookings, talks, tastings, contests, and raffles.
From early morning, the square has attracted numerous attendees eager to discover the culinary proposals. The inauguration was attended by the Councilor for Employment, Commerce, and Talent Promotion, Ana Trigueros, the president of Almería Gastronómica, Rafa Rodríguez, and other sector representatives, marking the fourth consecutive edition of this event.
The opening day highlighted the boldness of Almerian cuisine in fusing styles. Noteworthy were offerings such as those from Katsu, a Japanese tavern presenting tapas with a Japomediterranean twist and an Almerian accent. Chefs David Papis and Héctor García also presented creations integrating flavors from various origins.
The daily program, starting at 11:45 AM, will feature three talks or demonstrations followed by a raffle. The schedule includes participation from renowned local chefs and invited guests such as Iria Espinosa, a recipient of a Michelin Star in A Coruña, and Katerina Pak, alongside gastronomic contests for all ages.
The primary objective of the encounter, beyond mere tasting, is to highlight the work of farmers, producers, markets, businesses, restaurateurs, and chefs who form the Almerian food chain.
