“"The Festival is a prestigious cultural initiative that we lead, and it is a source of pride to have the great involvement of so many administrations. I believe we should feel very proud of the fact that the Festival is now celebrating its 42nd edition, demonstrating that it is much more than a celebration of the past; it is a reminder of the richness of our cultural heritage and an opportunity to enrich our lives through the art of theater, literature, or music."

The province of Almería is gearing up for the 42nd edition of its Golden Age Theater Festival, a cultural event that will offer 26 performances across various locations from May 1 to 10.
This festival, which keeps alive the tradition of Spanish Golden Age literature, will feature the participation of 16 theater companies. The main program will take place in the capital, with 15 proposals, and will extend to Roquetas de Mar and other towns in the province.
The initiative is made possible by the support of various institutions, including the Culture, Education and Traditions Department of Almería City Council, Roquetas de Mar City Council, the Provincial Council, the Junta de Andalucía, and the University of Almería, coordinated by Plan A Producciones.
Among the works to be performed are texts by literary figures such as Francisco de Quevedo, Lope de Vega, Miguel de Cervantes, and Calderón de la Barca, as well as a selection of Golden Age literature from a female perspective. Companies like Morfeo Teatro, the Fundación Siglo de Oro, and the Joven Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico, along with the Orquesta Ciudad de Almería, will bring this edition to life.
The Almería City Council will contribute with two plays and a concert at the Auditorio Municipal Maestro Padilla, as well as five proposals at the Teatro Apolo, including activities arranged with educational centers and a street activity in Pablo Cazard Square.
Tickets for paid performances are available at the municipal box office of the Teatro Apolo and through the usual website. Prices range from 10 to 15 euros, and numerous free admission activities will also be offered.
