Agreement for Comprehensive Renovation of Plaza de Pavía in Almería
Merchants and the Almería City Council will collaborate on a project to revitalize the historic Plaza de Pavía, seeking European funding.

Merchants from Plaza de Pavía and the Almería City Council have reached an agreement to promote a comprehensive renovation project aimed at revitalizing this historic and heritage space in the city.
The proposal, which will be presented by the Almería Consistory in the next call for European funds, includes the installation of a fixed pergola around the entire perimeter of the market and the possibility of creating an energy community by utilizing this roofing.

"We have a commitment that this project will be presented in the next call for funds allocated to these markets located in areas of tourist interest. It doesn't have to be our model; they can design it themselves if they wish. The only thing we have asked for from the beginning is to be given the opportunity to present a future project, and if they fulfill what was agreed, we will do it hand in hand with the City Council."
While funds are being managed, the City Council has committed to making provisional improvements before the end of the year. These include the awning of the central corridor and the replacement of individual awnings on the outer perimeter, using a subsidy from the European Union intended for the creation of shaded areas in various parts of the city.
Additionally, actions will be carried out to improve the external image of the barrack complex with municipal funds, with the aim of dignifying the market's appearance. The deadline for fulfilling these agreements has been set for the end of the year.
The Almería City Council will also review the situation of unoccupied or inactive barracks to facilitate the entry of new merchants interested in establishing themselves in Plaza de Pavía. Likewise, the delegated council will regularize the concessions of those already operating in the market.
Among the agreements reached, the governing team has accepted a modification of operating hours that will allow stalls to extend their activity after sales conclude, offering the possibility of product tastings in the square itself.
