Organized by Acento Comunicación, this event aims to foster reflection on nature's role in daily life, serving as both a source of artistic inspiration and a subject for scientific inquiry, with a particular emphasis on the climate challenge. The initiative is multidisciplinary, blending culture, art, literature, and science.
As part of the program, CIMCYC researcher Maria del Carmen Aguilar Luzón will deliver a talk titled “Tools to Reduce Eco-anxiety: The Influence of the Environment on Emotional Well-being”. The presentation is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, at 6:00 PM at the Centro Fundación Unicaja. Admission is free for the general public.
The talk will address eco-anxiety and climate anxiety, identifying factors that promote well-being and coping strategies from individual, environmental, and collective perspectives. Throughout the week, the festival will feature various activities focused on nature, sustainable food systems, and biodiversity conservation.
Science communicators will guide attendees through threatened local flora, edible plants, and plant-based gastronomy at different venues across the city. The event is sponsored by Fundación Unicaja and supported by collaborators including the Granada City Council, the Regional Government of Andalusia, Alsa, Fundación Agua Granada, the Spanish Society for the Conservation and Study of Butterflies, the University of Granada, and CIMCYC itself.
CIMCYC's participation is linked to the "Granada 2031" bid for European Capital of Culture, underscoring its commitment to contemporary societal challenges, science communication, and integrating science into Granada's cultural landscape.
