The ground trembled in Granada at 6:44 PM this Friday, causing a seismic movement of considerable intensity that was perceived in buildings in the capital and surrounding localities. This event has been reminiscent of the seismic activity recorded in January 2021.
The National Geographic Institute has located the epicenter in La Zubia, within the Metropolitan Area of Granada. The earthquake's magnitude was 3.9 degrees, placing it close to other significant seismic movements that have occurred in the province. The tremor originated at a depth of ten kilometers below the surface.
The movement was felt not only in the capital but also in various municipalities of the metropolitan belt. Authorities have ruled out that this is a replica of the 1.9-degree tremor previously recorded in Gójar.
So far, the 112 emergency service has not reported any personal or material damage. However, calls have been received from residents in towns such as La Zubia, Armilla, Ogíjares, Churriana de la Vega, Vegas del Genil, and Las Gabias, all communicating that they felt the tremor.
