The delegate of the Junta de Andalucía Government in Granada, accompanied by the local mayor, has overseen the progress of these emergency actions. The intervention is part of the Andalucía Actúa Plan, aimed at recovering forestry infrastructures and livestock trails affected by storms in the province of Granada.
The project on the Camino de la Peña del Perro, with an estimated budget of 440,000 euros, is crucial for access to public woodlands and for the development of rural and forest management activities. The damage, assessed by the Environmental Agents of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park, includes gully formation, partial disappearance of sections, and landslides.
“"The recovery of the Camino de la Peña del Perro is fundamental to guarantee safe access to our public woodlands and for the development of agricultural, livestock, and forestry activities that are part of our identity and local economy."
The repair works include cleaning and removal of debris, platform regularization with granular material and compaction, improvement of drainage systems, and stabilization of slopes. Complementary actions such as removing fallen trees and installing safety signage are also planned.
These interventions are essential to restore the road's functionality and safety, facilitating access to agricultural, livestock, and beekeeping operations, as well as for environmental surveillance, fire prevention, and silvicultural treatments. The estimated execution period for this batch of works in the Sierra Nevada Natural Park is approximately six months.
