The arrest took place as part of 'Operation Taena', following a knife attack during a Cruz de Mayo celebration in the town of Peligros. The incident occurred near an establishment where the assailant attempted to access an employee-only area. After being denied entry by the manager, the suspect allegedly inflicted two stab wounds to the victim's chest, causing extremely serious injuries that required urgent transfer to the Neurotraumatology Hospital of Granada.
The Organic Unit of Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Granada took over the investigation. Inquiries, combined with information from witnesses regarding the assailant's clothing and escape route, allowed authorities to reconstruct his movements and locate the residence where he might have been hiding, leading to his identification. The Local Police of Peligros provided continuous support throughout the investigation.
During a search of the suspect's home on Monday, a knife and several items of clothing believed to have been used on the day of the incident were seized. Additionally, officers found 3,195 euros in cash and discovered a plantation with 154 marijuana plants in one of the rooms. Evidence of an illegal connection to the electricity grid was also confirmed.
“"The operation was carried out by the Persons Team of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Granada, with the support of the Citizen Security Unit (Usecic) during the search conducted at the domicile."
Upon completion of the preliminary proceedings, the detainee will be brought before the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of Granada, as the alleged perpetrator of attempted homicide, threats, drug trafficking, and electricity fraud.
