Since April 23, coinciding with Book Day, the town of Cúllar Vega has begun receiving submissions for its well-established literary competition. This cultural event, active for nearly four decades, has become a prominent platform for literary creation.
The contest maintains its two traditional categories: Short Story, with a maximum length of ten pages, and Poetry, requiring collections of five to eight poems. Submitted works must be original, unpublished, and written in Spanish, as specified by the town hall.
“"Reaching the 39th edition is proof of the excellent health of culture in our town. This contest not only projects the name of Cúllar Vega beyond our borders, receiving works from all over Spain and even abroad, but it is also a fundamental platform to give voice to the creativity of our neighbors."
The Culture department has encouraged participation, highlighting the increasing quality of texts received in previous editions. This edition is expected to surpass participation records and continue to incentivize writing, especially among new and local authors.
Regarding prizes, significant economic awards have been established. For both categories, a first prize of 350 euros and a second prize of 200 euros will be awarded. Additionally, to recognize and promote local talent, a special prize of 350 euros has been created for the best local author.
Works must be sent by postal mail to the Cúllar Vega Town Hall, using the pseudonym system to ensure the impartiality of the jury. The results of this edition will be announced during the first half of January 2027.
