The exhibition showcases works dedicated to Spain's 52 provinces, capturing representative cultural, historical, natural, and gastronomic elements from each. Russian artist Eugenio Patrakov, who has lived in Spain for several years, has dedicated approximately four years to this project, driven by his interest in Spain's diversity beyond major destinations like Madrid or Barcelona.
The Councilor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez, explained that the exhibition is part of the space's monthly programming and highlighted the unique perspective of a foreign artist drawn to the richness of Spanish provinces. "It's wonderful to see what captures the attention of someone from outside and how they translate it onto paper," stated Jerez, noting that recognizable Mijas landmarks like the hermitage or el Compás appear in Patrakov's watercolors.
The exhibition includes a dedicated section for Mijas, featuring larger format works depicting emblematic locations within the municipality. Jerez encouraged residents, visitors, and families to visit and appreciate Patrakov's art, offering "a small tour of all of Spain without leaving Mijas Pueblo."
‘Your Spain in Watercolor’ can be visited at the Tourism Office of Mijas Pueblo from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
