“"These funds will allow us to improve towns and cities, create infrastructure and services that enhance the quality of life for citizens, promote employment and professional development, design specific programs to generate new job opportunities, with special attention to youth employment, and generally boost initiatives to make Granada a more competitive province aligned with the most advanced European regions."

The municipality of Atarfe hosted the central event for Europe Day, organized by the Diputación de Granada, with a special focus on youth and the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Spain's accession to the European Union.
The IES Ilíberis in Atarfe was the chosen venue for the institutional event, bringing together various authorities, students, and members of the educational community. The gathering served to reflect on the fundamental principles of freedom, democracy, and solidarity that underpin the European project.
A spokesperson for the Diputación de Granada, accompanied by a representative from the Junta de Andalucía, emphasized the relevance of European funds in the province. It was highlighted that the provincial institution currently manages 21 European projects, representing a direct investment of over 96 million euros in the region.
For her part, the representative of the Junta de Andalucía referred to the Strategic Plan for the Internationalization of Non-University Education, an initiative that seeks to strengthen bilingual education and participation in exchange programs. It was mentioned that the goal is for at least 50% of students to achieve specific language levels at different educational stages.
This year's celebration held special significance as it coincided with the 40th anniversary of Spain's entry into the European Union, a milestone that has been crucial for the economic, social, and territorial development of the country and, in particular, the province of Granada.
Following the main event, students from the center participated in a dialogue on the role of youth in European construction, organized by the Asociación Equipo Europa. Additionally, environmental workshops focused on the European Green Pact and recreational activities with sports inflatables were held at the IES Ilíberis facilities, aiming to foster coexistence and the European spirit among young people.
