The town of Alhendín hosted a session of the ‘Know Emergencies’ campaign, promoted by the Provincial Emergency and Civil Protection Service of the Provincial Council of Granada. The main goal of this initiative is prevention and safety education, specifically aimed at schoolchildren in the province.
Students from this metropolitan municipality had the opportunity to learn firsthand how responses to risk situations are organized and the crucial role of each professional involved. The campaign includes various emergency services, such as firefighters with their vehicles, health services with ambulances, law enforcement agencies, and Civil Protection volunteers, offering a practical and visual experience.
Through dynamic workshops, students learn about risks like fires, floods, and earthquakes, in addition to receiving training in first aid and the use of emergency equipment. Drills adapted to the school environment are also conducted, aiming for young people to acquire basic knowledge for acting before, during, and after an emergency.
“"This campaign is a fundamental tool for our children and young people to acquire knowledge that can be decisive in emergency situations. Educating the population from an early age is an investment in safety, responsibility, and well-being for the entire province."
The president of the Provincial Council, Francisco Rodríguez, highlighted the campaign's importance as a "fundamental tool" for equipping young people with crucial knowledge. He emphasized that "prevention is the best protection we have" and that initiatives like this teach basic guidelines for acting with "serenity and effectiveness" in any risk situation.
