The initiative, promoted by the Provincial Emergency and Civil Protection Service, aims to educate over 2,000 schoolchildren across the province in safety between April and June. In Alhendín, students gained firsthand knowledge of how risk situations are managed and the roles of the professionals involved.
The objective of this educational program is to introduce young people to the functioning of emergency services and foster a culture of prevention from an early age. The president of the Provincial Council of Granada, Francis Rodríguez, emphasized that the campaign is a "fundamental" tool for acquiring knowledge that can be "decisive in emergency situations" and that "educating the population from an early age is an investment in safety, responsibility, and well-being for the entire province."
Rodríguez added that prevention is the best protection tool and that "with initiatives like this, we bring schoolchildren closer to the work of those who ensure our safety and teach them basic guidelines that can help them act calmly and effectively in any risky situation."
The campaign involves various emergency services from the province, including firefighters from the Provincial Fire Extinction Agency, healthcare services with ambulances, law enforcement agencies, and Civil Protection volunteers, who conduct practical and visual workshops.
Students have the opportunity to meet the professionals, observe their equipment, and understand their coordinated efforts. The program includes dynamic activities such as talks on fire, flood, or earthquake risks, first aid workshops, demonstrations of emergency equipment, and school-based drills, under the slogan 'Knowing what to do saves lives'.
