The blaze began when a harvesting machine, working in the fields, brushed against a low-hanging high-voltage cable. The resulting sparks quickly ignited the dry terrain, starting the flames.
The immediate intervention of farmers present in the area was crucial in controlling the fire's spread. Using their tractors and other combine harvesters, they created firebreaks and delimited the affected zone, facilitating the subsequent work of the firefighters.
Upon arrival, the emergency services found an already contained perimeter, allowing them to extinguish the flames without further complications. The Prevention, Firefighting, and Rescue Service (Speis) confirmed the complete extinction of the fire.
