As a main novelty for the season, Mondays are added as an activity day, thus expanding the offerings for younger audiences. The launch of these new groups will depend on the number of registrations. A Children's Reading Club for children aged 9 to 13 and a Youth Reading Club for young people aged 14 to 17 are being created. Both will have bi-weekly meetings, the children's club on Wednesdays and the youth club on Mondays. Inma Manzanares will continue to lead the Wednesday children's clubs and these new groups.
The Councilor for Culture, Marina Maldonado, highlighted the importance of offering meeting spaces centered around books, adapted to the concerns of each life stage. "We continue to bet on reading because we believe that a book can open doors to knowledge, awaken imagination, and create community. We want everyone to find a club where they feel identified and enjoy sharing stories with others who share that same passion," she stated.
In addition to the new features, the established clubs with a solid track record and positive reception from participants will continue. These include the Wednesday Children's Reading Clubs, the Functional Diversity Club, a benchmark for inclusion, and the adult clubs: the Universal Literature Club, coordinated by Juan Naranjo; the Morning Reading Club, led by M.ª Ángeles González; and the English Book Club, coordinated by Pat Brudenell.
The program caters to all ages, from children starting at 5 years old to adults, offering proposals tailored to the interests and reading levels of each group. "Our clubs are much more than meetings to talk about books; they are spaces where friendships are formed, ideas are exchanged, and critical thinking is fostered. We invite all citizens to be part of this experience and discover that the best stories are enjoyed when shared," added Maldonado.
Registration will be open until September 15. Interested individuals can register by scanning a QR code, through a specific link, or via the email addresses indicated for each club.
