The municipal Plenary session of Alhaurín de la Torre approved in its June meeting the complete report and necessary technical documentation for the modification of the General Plan, thus enabling the development of a new hotel establishment. The project will be situated between Panaderos and Alfareros streets, in the area known as Angostura de Capellanía.
After receiving a request for corrections from the Territorial Delegation of the Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing of the Regional Government of Andalusia, the promoting company has submitted the updated documentation. The file will now be sent to the regional government for final approval. The agreement was supported by the municipal groups of the PP, PSOE, and Vox, while Con Andalucía abstained.
The area designated for hotel and commercial use covers approximately 12,400 square meters. Of these, about 6,400 square meters will be dedicated to hotel use. The plan also includes allocations for green spaces (around 2,500 m²), sports or social use (620 m²), roads, and parking (1,777 m²), with provisions for fifty parking spaces.
“"It is necessary to increase hotel capacity in Alhaurín de la Torre, encourage private initiative investments, boost the local economy, and create jobs."
The mayor, Joaquín Villanova, emphasized the project's importance for the municipality, estimating around two hundred rooms for the future accommodation and highlighting its contribution to economic revitalization and job creation.
