The new facilities, currently in the final stages of finishing touches, painting, and cleaning, will feature two distinct areas: one on the ground floor for training with machines, weights, and dumbbells, and another on the upper floor for group activities such as indoor cycling, Zumba, and aerostep. Each room will have independent air conditioning and LED lighting, complying with accessibility regulations.
Due to the relocation of current equipment and the installation of newly acquired units, fitness activities will be suspended from November 16th to 30th. The Sports Department has announced that users will only be charged half of the monthly fee for November.
The works, promoted by Mayor Joaquín Villanova, involved utilizing the adjacent old court to create a mezzanine level. Restrooms have been renovated, storage areas have been set up, and a new emergency exit has been opened. The installation of mirrors, vinyls, access control turnstiles, and the reception of new equipment are still pending.
The project, awarded to Sardalla Española S.A. after the termination of the previous contract, aims to expand the spaces of this historic sports facility to meet the growing demand for fitness. The restructuring of schedules has affected training sessions for basketball, rhythmic gymnastics, badminton, and futsal.
This improvement is part of the City Council's investment plan to promote sports and healthy living, which includes renovations in other sports pavilions and complexes in the town.
