The Provincial Council of Almería and the Olula del Río City Council are undertaking the replacement of the artificial turf at the José Juan Rodríguez Municipal Sports Center Soccer Field. The President of the Provincial Institution, José Antonio García Alcaina, and the Mayor, Antonio Martínez Pascual, conducted a technical visit to this sports facility to assess the progress of these improvement works.
This project, with a budget of €300,000 and funded 100% by provincial funds, aims to replace artificial turf that was installed 19 years ago and has reached the end of its useful life. The renovation covers 6,100 m2 of surface area, includes the replacement of fencing, and addresses cracks in adjacent walls.
The Provincial Council President highlighted that the work will modernize and enhance the safety of the facility, which is used by sports schools, clubs, and football enthusiasts. Once completed, the municipality will have a sports complex "in line with current technical regulations."
For his part, the Mayor detailed that the project is comprehensive, including the turf, perimeter fencing, irrigation improvements, and new signage for this historic field in the municipality. The playing field measures 100.00 m x 61.00 m, within a complex measuring 112.22m x 68.71 m.
The works also involve dismantling the old, damaged fencing and metal posts, as well as repairing wall cracks through opening, stitching, and filling with high-strength mortar.
