The Roads Plan of the Provincial Council of Almería has made possible the improvement of 1,500 meters of municipal roads in Albox. The Deputy of Sustainability, José Juan Martínez, and the mayoress, María del Mar Alfonso, visited the works, which focus on two high-traffic routes: Camino Segovias and the road between Aljambra and Santa Cruz.
These actions, financed 100% by the Provincial Council of Almería with a budget of 90,000 euros, aim to improve the surface and traffic safety on roads providing access to neighborhoods, agricultural farms, and scattered homes.
José Juan Martínez highlighted the scale of the Roads Plan, representing the Provincial Council's largest historical investment with 14 million euros allocated to all 103 municipalities in the province, enabling these improvements at no cost to the town councils.
For her part, Mayoress María del Mar Alfonso expressed gratitude for the Provincial Council's support, emphasizing the importance of these works for the transformation of Albox and mentioning other ongoing projects such as the PAI Almanzora, which includes an Auditorium, and the facilities at the Water Center.
The works on Camino Segovias cover 554 linear meters, including clearing margins, forming ditches, and resurfacing with a new layer of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), as well as painting horizontal signage.
On the road between Aljambra and Santa Cruz, 1,096 meters will be addressed, with tasks including clearing, brush cutting, paving with HMA, demolition of old speed bumps, and their replacement with new ones made from recycled rubber, as well as the construction of concrete triangular ditches and the renewal of horizontal signage.
The Roads Plan 2024-2027 is consolidated as the most investment-heavy program in the Provincial Council's history, guaranteeing actions in all municipalities to promote mobility, road safety, and access to various areas. It includes a new Block III dedicated to Singular Roads of tourist, cultural, or heritage interest.
