The Civil Guard, in collaboration with the Local Police, has arrested an individual with numerous prior offenses in Rute. He faces charges including public disorder, illegal possession of weapons, assault on an authority agent, reckless driving, and theft of a firearm.
The incident began when officers were alerted to a person firing a sawed-off shotgun towards a construction building, a place often frequented by homeless individuals. Upon arrival, Civil Guards observed several visibly nervous people in the vicinity.
Initial investigations identified the alleged shooter as a local resident known for his extensive criminal record, who had fled the scene. Officers then proceeded to locate him.
During his escape, the suspect endangered a Civil Guard officer by swerving his vehicle. The car was eventually found abandoned in an olive grove with its doors open. The man was later apprehended after offering significant resistance, injuring two officers involved in the operation. These officers received medical attention at the Rute health center.
An inspection of the olive grove, involving patrols from the Local Police of Rute, led to the discovery of a large machete near an olive tree, belonging to the suspect. Nearby, in a stream and partially buried, a 12-gauge hunting shotgun with sawed-off barrels and two live cartridges was found.
Both the seized items and the detainee have been transferred to the Rute barracks for further investigation. During this process, it was determined that the firearm had been reported stolen in Cuevas de San Marcos (Málaga).
