Repair works on the access road to the Virgen de la Sierra Sanctuary in Cabra have concluded, allowing vehicles of all tonnages to pass. These works were necessary due to a significant landslide and roadbed collapse caused by a series of storms earlier this year.
“"The important thing is the final result and that the safety of all users has been guaranteed with a technically very consistent and durable solution."
The mayor of Cabra expressed gratitude for the speed and agility in carrying out this project, which he described as “technically very complex.” He highlighted the infrastructure's importance for devotees of the Virgen de la Sierra and visitors to the Natural Park, as well as the patience of the Real Archicofradía and users during the road closure.
A representative from the Diputación de Córdoba detailed that the works included the construction of a 40-meter riprap wall with its corresponding anchoring and foundation, in addition to the restoration of the road surface and horizontal signage. The investment for this project was between 250,000 and 300,000 euros. The main objective was to provide a durable and efficient solution, recalling that the road was closed after a severe collapse in February.
“"After a few complicated months, today we can say that all devotees and visitors can now travel without any problems."
The Real Archicofradía de María Santísima de la Sierra expressed its satisfaction with the return to normalcy in accessing the Sanctuary. Appreciation was extended for the involvement and work of all participating administrations and companies, emphasizing the speed of execution despite the technical complexity of the work.
