The Councilor for Culture of the Priego City Council, Jezabel Ramírez, has described the recent edition of the International Festival of Music, Theater, and Dance as one that has had the greatest public response in recent years. The event took place from July 10 to 18.
Ramírez pointed out the growing complexity of programming a festival of this nature, which must adapt to diverse audiences, the evolution of cultural offerings, and new communication methods. Despite this, she considered that the approach taken this year has yielded good results.
According to her statements, both the free activities held in the streets and the paid performances registered high attendance, with almost absolute sell-outs for the latter. The councilor also highlighted the combination of national and international artists with local groups and creators, as well as the programming developed in the villages, a formula that, in her opinion, contributed to the festival's balance.
Another aspect highlighted was the improvement in communication. Ramírez emphasized that advancing the presentation of some shows and the festival itself, within the annual Mascarón festival calendar, allowed them to reach a wider audience, both from Priego and from outside the municipality.
The councilor also referred to the promoter's cancellation of Iván Ferreiro's concert, a circumstance that, as she explained, partially marred the programming. However, she believes this situation will serve to analyze which types of proposals best fit the festival and to study ways to strengthen advance ticket sales and continue improving the event.
Ramírez valued the recovery of emblematic spaces such as the Fuente del Rey and the Paseo de Colombia for holding activities, as well as the commitment to offering experiences that went beyond the performance itself. She cited as an example the concert by Chico Pérez and Sergio de Lope, which integrated music with a special ambiance at the Fuente del Rey, an initiative that will be considered for future editions.
