The Santiago Fair will open the summer fair calendar in Lucena from July 23 to 25. The program is designed for all audiences, with flamenco as a main highlight through the XXII Curro Lucena Festival, alongside children's events, family activities, and musical performances. The Councilor for Festivals, Araceli Rodríguez, and the president of the Santiago Neighborhood Association, Francis Díaz, presented the event, which has a budget of approximately 14,800 euros and aims to make the neighborhood a community meeting point.
Araceli Rodríguez emphasized the municipal commitment to this summer celebration and highlighted the work of the neighborhood association and all collaborators. She encouraged citizens to participate in events designed for family enjoyment and coexistence.
The program will begin on Thursday, July 23, at 9:30 PM with the lighting ceremony and inaugural act, followed by a neighborhood gathering with free chorizo and morcilla tasting. The evening will continue with the magic show «La ilusión de lo imposible» by Cordoban illusionist Fran Luque, and the contemporary circus performance Ungravity Circus at the Llanete de Santiago.
On Friday, July 24, starting at 10:30 PM, the XXII Curro Lucena Flamenco Festival will take place. It will feature artists such as Antonio García «El Califa», Antonio Nieto, Carmen Carmona, Raúl Alcántara «El Troya», Felipe Fernández, and María La Mónica, accompanied by guitarists Ángel Mata, Antonio Migueles, and Juani Marín. The presentation will be by Rafael Ramírez Ponferrada.
The fair will conclude on Saturday, July 25, with the traditional water and foam party, a procession in honor of Santiago Apóstol, the visit of La Peregrina distributing gifts to children, and a concert by the group Sound Garage performing covers from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, until the celebration closes around 4:00 AM.
Francis Díaz expressed gratitude for the support from the Lucena City Council, the Federation of Neighborhood Associations, collaborating companies, and especially the involvement of the neighborhood residents in decorating the area and ensuring the fair's splendor.
