The Campogibraltareño Studies Institute (IECG) has announced the completion of the organization and technical preparation work for its library. These tasks were made possible by a grant awarded by the Provincial Council of Cádiz.
The activities have focused on optimizing the physical organization of the collections, establishing uniform technical criteria, and preparing the bibliographic collection for its future automated cataloging using the AbsysNet system.
Among the tasks carried out are the reorganization of collections by subject areas, the selection and removal of duplicate copies, the standardization of the labeling system (tejuelado), the reorganization of special collections, the preparation of reusable bibliographic records, and the adaptation of the library for the future implementation of an integrated library management system.
The process was developed progressively, involving the review of the collection, thematic classification of works, identification of duplicate items, design of a uniform labeling system, and the acquisition of bibliographic records in MARC format, with the objective of streamlining the cataloging process.
